Charlie asks: For a company with many locations, do you think 1 site with subfolders for each location, or a separate site for each location is a better option for SEO?
Hi Charles,
This depends on three factors:
- How many locations do you have? If “many” means “10″, maybe you can look at separate sites. But if “many” means “10000″ it might not be practical.
- What are your resources for managing content/sites for each location? Remember that each site will have to have 100% unique content.
- Are these locations in different countries? Or just spread around one or two countries?
Generally, I recommend you use a single site with subfolders. If you’re working in multiple languages, you can duplicate the site into each language within the subfolder in question. If you’re working with many locations within a single country, you can use a folder for each location and have unique content for that location within the folder.
Hope this helps!
