Charles asks:How much value do you think comment links have when they remove the no-follow attribute and would you recommend this as a tactic?
Hi Charles,
Links in comments likely pass very little value, either way. There’s increasing evidence that Google and Bing confer a little value from ‘dofollowed’ links. And Google applies a ‘rational surfer’ model when valuing links: The less likely a link is to be clicked by a reasonable person surfing the site, the less value it’ll confer.
There are few links on the page LESS likely to get clicked than a link in a comment. So I wouldn’t put too much stock in either dofollowed or nofollowed links. I don’t recommend it as a tactic.
Hope this helps, Ian
